This Very Moment.

I believe that the greatest moment of your life is this one. It is this hour, this moment; not the one that’s over and not the one that has yet to come. It is this very moment, because this moment is where God is. So many people lose their lives by worrying about the future or evaluating their past. You should expect this moment to be the best moment of your life. Not because it’s easy or because you’re so brilliant that you can overcome it. Not because it’s going to be a Kodak moment, you might not want to remember it at all. But because in the outskirts of Jerusalem there is an empty tomb. A tomb in which Jesus was once withheld. But if he is no longer there, where is He? I’ll tell you… He’s right here. This moment is His. And this very moment, if it’s fueled with God, can be your glimpse of heaven.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Spiritual Exhaustion.

Spiritual exhaustion never comes through sin but only through service. I must admit that for a while I have literally been "exhausted". I have done all of the right things, to the best of my ability. Been involved in mission work/service. Attended church on a regular basis. Read my Bible/had my quiet time and prayed numerous times a day. But that doesn't mean that I'm perfect or was even close to the place where I should be in my relationship with Christ. I got to the point where I would serve Him, not in honor of Him, but simply because it was what I was supposed to do. It was a way to do the right thing without feeling bad about just "getting it done". One thing I have realized though is that the more I strive to be closer to God, the harder and faster Satan pushes me away...or gives me excuses to push myself away. Once I came to the realization that it's not about what I'm doing or about giving myself credit or even about the "good feeling" I get for doing the right thing, but instead about Jesus Christ and Him alone...everything began to fall back into place. I'm not saying that we won't ever be "exhausted" but I just think that when we are...we need to go back to the foundation of our relationship with Christ and recollect where the source of power is. He is almighty, all knowing, all powerful... Our supply comes from God and only through Him. If we are to be exhausted by God, we should ultimately remember that our supply comes from Him. (Isaiah 40:28: "...The Lord is the everlasting God, He will not grow tired or weary.") When we do that, we can get back into serving Him because of who He is and what He did rather than for our own personal gain or benefit. In all reality, it's not about us anyway.
